The Role
Support the Senior Public Health Analyst by delivering analytical public health programmes and projects.
Key responsibilities include participating in the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and creating evidence, research and insights that inform local health outcomes.
The post is based within the Public Health Team but requires close collaboration with other council officers, stakeholders in East Berkshire, Thames Valley and the South East region.
Your Role Will Involve
- Adopting a public health approach to identify and analyse health needs, using local intelligence, research and national/local databases to contribute to the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
- Developing, delivering and managing delegated analytical public health programmes and projects to improve community health outcomes.
- Supporting the delivery of health and wellbeing objectives for specific topic areas through cross‑council, inter‑authority and multi‑agency collaboration.
- Evaluating the impact of projects and incorporating relevant learning into future programme/project delivery.
- Under supervision, commission or de‑commission services to improve health outcomes, including health equity or equality impact assessments, cost‑benefit analysis and business cases.
- What We Are Looking For
- A degree or professional qualification in Public Health, Data Science or a related field, and experience working at this level in a public health context.
- Experience analysing data and managing datasets to identify trends and insights.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and software such as R, SQL, Power BI and Excel for extraction, manipulation and reporting.
- Project or programme management skills.
- Capacity to absorb complex information and interpret it for a wider audience.
- Ability to communicate clearly with the public, answer questions and provide advice, using specialist terminology where appropriate.
