Nursery Room Leader – Specialist Early Years Setting

About the Role:

As a Nursery Room Leader, you will be pivotal in managing and leading a designated room within the nursery, ensuring its smooth operation and a safe, stimulating environment for pre-school children. You will guide and support a team of practitioners, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. This role requires a proactive leader with excellent organisational skills, a deep understanding of child development, and a passion for fostering holistic growth.

Key Responsibilities (Expected):

  • Serve as the primary contact for your designated nursery room, ensuring its efficient and safe operation.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Nursery Practitioners in delivering high-quality care and education.
  • Plan, prepare, and actively participate in a diverse range of activities aligned with the EYFS Framework to promote children\’s physical, intellectual, and emotional development.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of children\’s planning and progress, providing guidance to team members.
  • Act as a key worker for a group of children, observing, monitoring, and accurately recording their individual development.
  • Maintain accurate records and children\’s profiles, including online learning journals (e.g., Tapestry entries).
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills.
  • Attend and contribute to staff training sessions, meetings, parents\’ evenings, and open days as required.

Essential Requirements:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with the following:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience working in a care, education, or early years setting, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
    • Extensive experience in planning age-appropriate, short, medium, and long-term activities in an early years setting, ensuring compliance with EYFS for both individual and group needs.
    • Experience in providing a comprehensive nursery curriculum for children aged 0-3 and/or 3-5 years.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in meeting the diverse needs of children and their families.
    • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and childrens developmental profiles.
  • Relationships:
    • Exceptional verbal reasoning and active listening skills.
    • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations.
    • Natural aptitude for building strong, positive relationships with children.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Ability to work independently, using initiative, while also excelling as a collaborative team leader.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and know when to refer them appropriately.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and perform effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Prior experience supporting children with special educational needs.
  • A recent first aid qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of EYFS and/or Foundation Stage, with a proven ability to effectively implement its principles in a leadership capacity.

Salary Details (Based on 40 hours per week):

  • Yearly: £24,750 – £30,000
  • Monthly: £2,062.50 – £2,271
  • Weekly: £476 – £524
  • Daily: £95.20 – £104.80
  • Hourly: £11.90 – £13.10
