The predicted salary is between 95000 - 100000 £ per year.

This position is responsible for maintenance and repair services on all heavy commercial fleet (bus and truck) to ensure that all vehicles are maintained in a safe, reliable and roadworthy condition at all times in accordance with relevant acts, regulations, company policies and procedures and the Maintenance Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative vehicle maintenance to ensure efficient level availability for all operational needs.
  • Perform vehicle repairs in a timely manner, including engines, transmissions and other mechanical systems.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and repair of ticket machines.
  • Attend breakdowns, call‑outs and general repair and maintenance work.
  • Manage and maintain the breakdown/call‑out roster.
  • Maintain and repair air‑conditioning (AC) systems, undertake periodic testing of AC units to meet manufacturer specifications, and check minor AC parts (gas work not permitted unless authorized).
  • Perform diagnostic work and program changes using computers to ensure temperatures suit seasonal conditions.
  • Ensure panel and/or glass repairs meet legislative requirements and company specifications.
  • Maintain electrical systems, seeking advice and direction as required.
  • Perform brake tests (where equipment available), conduct wheel rotations and ensure 100 % compliance with legislative requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Undertake regular servicing of vehicles as identified by company policies and procedures.
  • Mentor and assist apprentices and trade assistants, focusing on their safety and competency.
  • Accurately record work orders daily, including work performed, labour times and parts allocation on daily work order sheets and workshop diary.
  • Assist in part stock control, ordering and security.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Trade qualification, Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, currently working towards Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
  • Previous mechanical experience in providing maintenance and repair.

Licensing

  • Medium‑rigid licence essential, heavy‑rigid licence preferable.
  • Forklift licence preferable.
  • Exposure to diagnostics via computer‑controlled systems preferable.

Skills

  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
