A little more about your role…

We are looking for an Associate Director with a preference to be based out of our Southampton office, who can:

  • Support our Regional lead for the South, along with the wider Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership and business development;
  • Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs whilst helping to grow and develop our work with them;
  • Act as Project Director or Project Manager on a wide range of projects delivering liveable places and better sustainable transport routes in urban and rural settings;
  • Demonstrate significant traffic engineering experience, desirably including traffic signals design and modelling;
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of projects;
  • Undertake technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team;
  • Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team, colleagues in our wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives.

YOUR TEAM

Liveable Places work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, transport planning, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel, and parking. We have had recent key successes with West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, West Berkshire Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, West of England Combined Authorities, Devon County Council, National Highways, Westminster City Council and many, many more.

The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff currently making up the team, with further growth planned. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop in your career through exposure to a wide variety of experiences.

We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • A civil engineering, transport engineering or transport planning degree;
  • Membership of a relevant professional body;
  • Chartered Engineer or Chartered Transport Planning Professional status;
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals;
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control;
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent;
  • Transport, traffic signals, road safety or highway engineering experience;
  • Good spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues.
