We are looking for a Trading Analyst - Biofuels to evaluate market trends, supply/demand, feedstock availability, global arbs and regulatory policies as well as provide actionable insights for trading, investment, or refinery planning. The ideal candidate should be able to build predictive models, analyse, and monitor flows, and also assist in middle office activities related to deal handling. This is a unique hybrid role - we are seeking the best combination of skills and experience in general market fundamentals understanding, programming and/or data science as well providing middle office trading assistance. The role is to be based in our London office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Research & Analysis: Track global biofuels production, feedstock trends, pricing, and consumption patterns.
  • Fundamental Modeling: Build and maintain models for supply, demand, and price forecasting in biofuels and feedstocks. Knowledge of AI based modelling will be advantageous.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate policies, incentives, and sustainability frameworks affecting biofuel markets.
  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Build and maintain Python workflows for data ingestion, cleaning, validation, and automation. Use SQL to extract and validate data; work with partners to improve data quality and lineage.
  • Trading Support: Collaborate with traders to identify market opportunities and optimize trading strategies. Also help in tracking P&L, deal entries and hedges execution.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Generally requires 1-3 years of experience in tracking market fundamentals. Experience in biofuels, agricultural commodities, middle distillates or related markets will be helpful.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel is essential; skills in Python, SQL, or VBA are essential. Experience with ETRM systems.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong skills in quantitative analysis, modeling, and data interpretation.
  • Communication: Excellent English report writing and presentation skills.

Educational Background

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
