The Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Director is responsible for the development, delivery and management of Global HEOR deliverables for the assigned Therapeutic Area (TA). These activities include but are not limited to cost effectiveness and comparative effectiveness analyses, real world evidence generation, patient reported outcomes, epidemiological initiatives, development of core value dossiers, and HTA/Reimbursement strategies for in-line and development compounds. The Director will support the Global Head of HEOR through implementation of HEOR strategic objectives in line with the Brand strategies.

This position requires strong interpersonal and matrix team skills, project and vendor management skills, and expertise in HEOR principles, pharmaceutical research design and methods. Specifically, this individual will:

  • Develop and lead health economic and outcomes projects that are innovative, medically relevant, scientifically valid and appropriately planned, managed, executed.
  • Lead effective collaborations with internal stakeholders by understanding medical and commercial needs and developing and implementing strategies that address these needs.
  • Be a key collaborator with external stakeholders and HEOR experts to ensure that SOBI sponsored Global HEOR initiatives are clinically relevant and support the needs of patients, health care providers and payers.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Inform and implement the HEOR strategy for assigned TA or product(s) across all SOBI commercial territories.
  • Be an integral part of the overall Global Patient Access group, securing tight liaison and collaboration with other members of the group, both globally and locally in-country.
  • Work closely with the in-country patient access leads to ensure that country level health outcome and value tactical plans align with the global Patient Access strategic plans for each brand.
  • Support Global HEOR business objectives and budgetary plans with a 3-5 year perspective through HEOR evidence generation, synthesis, dissemination, communication and refinement.
  • Identify, design, develop, and lead Global HEOR projects including leading strategies for prospective and retrospective protocol development, economic models, scientific publications, and vendor supplied research proposals in assigned therapeutic area for both in-line and development products.
  • Closely monitor the changing healthcare and economic landscape to anticipate and address potential impact on the business.
  • Play a key role in Global HEOR business planning process that is aligned with the therapeutic area/product strategy and contribute to the brand Global Value Dossier in line with local HTA needs for the assigned therapy areas.
  • Represent SOBI at external HEOR conferences and meetings.

The HEOR Director is responsible for developing the evidence to support reimbursement and the value proposition for SOBI products throughout the product’s lifecycle. The HEOR Director will support multiple projects (5-15) and HTA (1-10) and/or reimbursement submissions per year with several products across the SOBI portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree in Health Economics, Economics, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Medicine or Epidemiology combined with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in Health Economics Outcome Research within the pharmaceutical industry, or related HEOR consultancies.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of European HTA, reimbursement systems and health economics/outcomes research.
  • Good working knowledge of Market Access and expertise in leveraging outcomes data in the appropriate clinical context.
  • Understanding of regulatory bodies (EMA, MHRA, FDA…) and major HTA bodies (EFPIA, NICE, AMNOG, HAS, TLV, AIFA) as they relate to HEOR and Patient Access.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills working within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong self-starting capabilities; Creative “out-of-the-box” thinker with experience managing multiple brands.
  • Excellent spoken and written English and readiness to travel approximately 20% travel required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation and organizational skills.

Ideally:

  • Knowledge of EU and emerging markets health care systems and experience in outcomes research, pharmacoeconomics, health economics, clinical research, epidemiology and health policy.
  • Experience in working with co-promotion or business partners.
  • Experience with orphan drugs or specialty pharmaceuticals.
