About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Construction Manager to lead the successful delivery of retail construction projects from inception through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating project teams, ensuring health and safety compliance, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business working on a diverse portfolio of retail fit-out, refurbishment, and new-build projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of multiple retail construction projects simultaneously.
- Oversee day-to-day site operations and ensure projects are completed safely, on programme, and within budget.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Monitor project performance, identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Review project schedules and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits to maintain construction standards.
- Manage client relationships and act as the key point of contact throughout project delivery.
- Control project costs and contribute to value engineering initiatives.
- Support project handover and defect management processes.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Site Manager within the retail construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of retail fit-out, refurbishment, and store rollout projects.
- Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and site management practices.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- SMSTS certification.
- CSCS Card.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
Desirable
- Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering projects for major retail brands.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
- Membership of a professional body such as CIOB.
