Department: Language Centre, within Marketing, Student Recruitment, and Admissions Directorate.

Contract type: Fixed Term.

Grade: 6.

Salary: Weighted hourly rate paid at a multiplier of 2.5 basic hours for group teaching to include preparation time and course administration, in the range £58.64 – £69.24 (basic hourly rate starts from £23.46 per hour, inclusive of London Allowance).

Hours: Hourly paid – dependent on hours worked.

Location: Bloomsbury, London.

About the Department: SOAS Language Centre offers quality teaching in a wide range of languages and bespoke training for diverse organisations. It focuses on making language learning practically useful and accessible.

About the Role: SOAS Language Centre is looking to recruit experienced language teachers who are confident in teaching native and non‑native students using the communicative approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide teaching online or on campus for non‑degree, daytime and/or evening language courses.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in the specified languages (Urdu, Sinhala, Yoruba or Pashto).
  • Strong background in communicative language teaching methodology.
  • Ability to prepare classroom materials and manage online teaching platforms.
