The Disability & Neurodiversity Manager leads the team of Disability Advisors, Learning Advisors, and Administrators within the Disability & Neurodiversity Team. The team supports students with a disability or SpLD at SOAS. The role holds responsibility for leading service provision that supports disabled students throughout their studies.
The Student Advice & Wellbeing team is within the Student Support, Wellbeing & Careers Directorate. It includes specialists across various areas; the Disability & Neurodiversity team is based within it. Student Advice & Wellbeing is often the first port of call for students needing mental health support, disability support, immigration & finance advice, accommodation allocation, and multi-faith support.
We are looking for an experienced disability and neurodiversity professional who can bring specialist knowledge, confident service leadership, and a strong commitment to inclusive student support. You will have a deep understanding of disability support, SpLDs, inclusive practice, and relevant legislation within a higher education context, and you will be able to apply this knowledge in a practical, student-centered way.
You will enjoy leading people and shaping a positive team culture, while staying close to the day-to-day realities of service delivery. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, supporting complex cases, improving processes, and using data, feedback, and technology to enhance the experience of students and staff. You will also be confident in holding a small caseload of students either in a study skills or disability advisory capacity.
