SOAS University of London is seeking a creative and strategic Senior Content Officer (Video and Social Media) to help shape our digital presence and engage prospective students around the world. This role sits within the Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) Directorate, which leads the university’s global marketing and recruitment activity. You will play a key role in telling the SOAS story through compelling video and social media content, helping to showcase our unique academic offer, diverse student community and global outlook.
You will produce high-quality digital content that supports student recruitment and brand awareness, working closely with colleagues across the university and leading our Student Content Creators programme. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative digital storyteller with strong video production skills, awareness of social media trends and a passion for higher education.
The MSRA Directorate ensures recruitment targets are achieved by attracting and admitting well-qualified applicants. This includes delivering marketing campaigns that communicate the values of SOAS and the benefits of studying here, alongside recruitment activity across UK, EU and international markets for programmes delivered on campus, online and through overseas partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Lead video content production
- Produce, film, edit and publish engaging video content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and the website
- Create content such as student stories, academic interviews, programme videos, campus tours and recruitment event coverage while managing the full production process from concept and scripting to publishing and optimisation
- Manage SOAS’s YouTube presence
- Grow and optimise the university’s YouTube channel, ensuring videos include SEO, thumbnails and descriptions, and refining content using analytics and insights
- Deliver impactful social media content
- Plan and publish engaging posts aligned with recruitment campaigns and events while maintaining a forward-planning content calendar supporting activities such as Open Days and conversion campaigns
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify and capture authentic stories across the university
- Lead the SOAS Student Content Creators programme
- Recruit, train and manage a diverse group of student creators, mentoring them in storytelling, videography and social media content creation, and reviewing user-generated content to ensure quality and brand alignment
- Use data to drive performance
- Monitor and report on content performance across platforms, identifying trends and opportunities to increase reach, and tracking competitor activity within the higher education sector
About you
We are looking for someone who combines creative storytelling, strong video production skills and strategic thinking. You will have experience creating digital and video content for social media and strong video production and editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects or Canva. You will also have experience developing content strategies that drive engagement and brand awareness, excellent storytelling and visual communication skills, a strong understanding of social media platforms and analytics, and experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You will be able to translate complex ideas into engaging and accessible digital content.
