The Awards and Progression Officer will be responsible for supporting the co-ordination of assessments for all SOAS programmes (including UG, PGT and PGR, both on campus and online/flexible learning, and those delivered via partnership and validation arrangements), ensuring the accuracy of all records. The role involves working closely with academic departments, professional services teams, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to support the smooth delivery of assessments.
Responsibilities
- Servicing of exam boards, sub boards and panels;
- Production of certificates and transcripts;
- Communications with staff and students;
- Support during examination periods.
Additionally, the successful candidate will help maintain accurate systems and records while contributing to an effective and responsive service across the University.
About the Department
The Registry is responsible for the central elements of student administration for SOAS with specialist teams including Assessment and Progression, Curriculum and Quality Assurance, Fees and Funding, Student Records, Doctoral School and Visa Compliance. Registry sits within the Student and Academic Services Directorate alongside Academic Services.
Qualifications
- A highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive individual with excellent organisational, administrative, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel.
- Previous experience in university student record systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines effectively with a positive approach to achieving results.
