A bout the Role

This is a relationship management role at the heart of Advancement’s philanthropic scholarship and sponsorship activity. As Scholarships Relationships and Projects Officer, you will strengthen the acquisition of donor-funded scholarship support and lead on Advancement’s tracking, promotion, stewardship, and reporting of scholarships.

You will work collaboratively across the institution with key stakeholders including Registry, Scholarship Office, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and the Scholarships Committee to ensure that philanthropic and sponsored scholarships are inclusive and aligned with institutional goals.

You will also support Advancement’s stewardship of donors, organize engagement opportunities, and produce compelling impact reporting by maintaining visibility over funder relationships, award timelines, and allocation of donor funds.

This role will play a vital part in supporting the scholarship network by coordinating and facilitating events that foster meaningful connections among scholars. These gatherings will not only provide valuable networking opportunities for current recipients but also serve as a platform to showcase the impact of the programme, thereby strengthening relationships with existing donors and inspiring future philanthropic support.

About the Department

We are a creative, and committed Advancement team with a proven track record of raising philanthropic income year on year and engaging alumni and key stakeholders worldwide. Situated within The Directorate, Advancement is a key function that works closely with the Vice-Chancellor and his office to deliver core strategic objectives in philanthropy, alumni engagement, and scholarship development.

Within this dynamic environment, collaboration and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. The successful candidate will join a small, supportive, and forward-thinking team, playing a vital role in strengthening the impact, visibility, and strategic coordination of scholarships and student funding across SOAS.

About you

A collaborative and detail-oriented individual, the Scholarships Relationships and Projects Officer will possess excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels. The successful candidate will coordinate the delivery of philanthropic and sponsored scholarships, ensuring accurate tracking, strong funder stewardship, and clear communication across teams. With experience supporting complex projects and managing data, they will play a key role in strengthening the visibility, impact, and coordination of scholarship activity across the institution.
