About 9fin

9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world's largest asset class at over $145 trillion. Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets. Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention driven by deep workflow adoption.

The Opportunity

9fin has built one of the most comprehensive datasets in credit and debt markets: news, financials, cap tables, instrument data, legal documents, and ESG analysis. Today, most clients access that data through 9fin.com. But a large and growing segment of the market wants to consume our data programmatically to power firm-level workflows at scale: a negative news signal triggers an automated credit review, updated financials trigger a portfolio rebalance, a covenant keyword triggers a sanctions flag. These buyers (quant desks, data engineering teams, systematic investors, risk and compliance functions) will never log into a web application. They need APIs, data feeds, and cloud-native delivery through platforms like Snowflake. At comparable financial data providers, this distribution channel represents 20-30% of total revenue. 9fin is at the beginning of this journey.

The challenge is to turn 9fin's integrated dataset into a portfolio of standalone data products with a coherent commercial strategy. You will define how the data gets packaged (what goes together, what stands alone, how it's tiered and priced), the order in which products go to market, and the commercial models that fit each buyer segment: quant desks, data engineering teams, risk and compliance functions, and systematic investors. You will work in lockstep with the Head of Pre-Sales, who owns technical validation and deal execution, to ensure that what you build maps to how these buyers actually evaluate and procure data.

What You'll Do

  • Product Strategy & Execution
  • Define the product vision and strategy for 9fin's external data distribution: APIs, data shares, and future delivery mechanisms (cloud sync, pub/sub).
  • Own the data catalogue decisions: which datasets to expose, in what format, through which channels, and in what order, balancing client demand, data readiness, and commercial potential.
  • Design the developer experience end-to-end: API design, documentation, developer portal, sandbox/playground, error handling, rate limiting, and versioning.
  • Work with analytics engineering and domain teams to define schemas, data models, and transformation logic that make 9fin's data consumable and valuable outside the application.
  • Use a partner model to validate early: select and work closely with 1-2 clients during development to co-develop and prove out each data product before broader launch.
  • Shape the commercial model for API products: packaging, tiering, usage-based pricing, distribution controls, and entitlement structures that capture the value of programmatic data access.
  • Data Quality, Infrastructure & Compliance
  • Partner with the Head of Analytics to ensure data products meet the reliability, freshness, and accuracy standards that enterprise clients building automated systems expect.
  • Define SLAs for data delivery (latency, uptime, completeness) and build the monitoring and metering infrastructure to back them up.
  • Own the entitlements and access control layer: ensuring the right clients can access the right data under the right contractual terms, with appropriate usage limits and controls.
  • Work with Legal to define data usage policies, including restrictions on redistribution, AI training and model embedding, and onward use, protecting 9fin's data IP while enabling legitimate client workflows.
  • Establish feedback loops between API consumers and domain teams so that usage patterns and client requests improve the underlying data over time.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & GTM
  • Coordinate across platform engineering, analytics engineering, domain squads, and the Head of Analytics to align priorities and ship a cohesive product without a dedicated squad.
  • Influence teams you do not manage; build relationships that make cross-functional delivery work despite competing priorities.
  • Support the shift to a solution-selling GTM motion: work with Sales and Customer Success on partner selection, POC design, technical onboarding, and commercial structuring for API deals.
  • Engage directly with enterprise clients and their technical teams during pilots and integrations; this is a client-facing role, not a back-office one.
  • Communicate strategy, progress, and trade-offs transparently to leadership, engineering, and commercial teams.
  • Translate technical API and data infrastructure concepts into language that non-technical stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Finance) can act on.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building API products, data platforms, or data distribution products at a B2B company.
  • Experience designing APIs for external consumers: you have opinions on schema design, versioning strategies, rate limiting, and what makes developer documentation actually useful.
  • Track record of shipping data products where you managed the full lifecycle: from defining what data to expose, through schema design, to commercial packaging and client onboarding.
  • Understanding of data infrastructure concepts: data pipelines, warehouses, ETL/ELT, data modelling, and platforms like Snowflake.
  • Comfortable with SQL and Python and capable of interrogating data to validate quality, understand usage patterns, and inform product decisions.
  • Experience working in a solution-selling or partner-led GTM model: you have been involved in POCs, pilots, or co-development with enterprise clients, not just self-serve product launches.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functionally without a dedicated team: you coordinate across engineering, data, and commercial functions through influence, not authority.
  • Strong commercial instinct: you understand how enterprise data buyers evaluate providers, and you can shape a product that competes on data quality, coverage, and ease of integration.
  • Clear communicator who can translate between technical and commercial audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with credit markets, debt instruments, or how buy-side/sell-side firms consume financial data.
  • Experience with Snowflake data sharing, marketplace listings, or similar cloud data distribution mechanisms.
  • Experience building entitlements, licensing, or access control systems for data products.
  • Understanding of data licensing, redistribution terms, or AI usage policies in the context of enterprise data products.

Benefits

  • Competitive, market-benchmarked salary.
  • Pension with 7% company matching.
  • Private medical insurance, paid sick leave, income protection, group life assurance.
  • Season ticket and cycle-to-work schemes.
  • Hybrid flexibility with up to 3 months annual work abroad.
  • 25 holiday days plus local public holidays (exchangeable).
  • One-month paid sabbatical after 5 years; enhanced parental leave.
  • Professional development budget and regular social events.
