As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping how modern organizations build and secure software at scale. You will join a collaborative, forward-thinking team and help drive our mission to embed security into every part of the AI-native development lifecycle.
Your contributions will directly impact the success of our products and the security of millions of developers worldwide.
As a Senior Software Engineer at Snyk, you will:
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for GCP Loadbalancers, Akamai and other public internet-facing applications, utilizing Terraform and Helm.
- Configure, deploy, and manage high-throughput, high-availability, low-latency applications that are critical to Snyk's uptime.
- Craft and architect complex solutions for our increasingly distributed system.
- Code mainly in Go, and occasionally in TypeScript, deploying solutions in a CI/CD workflow.
- Analyze, design and implement high-quality solutions to problems with well-tested, maintainable code.
- Build systems with the long-term in mind, focusing on good design, robust testing, and sustainability from the perspective of cost and scale.
- Support our customers by resolving bugs and customer support escalations.
- Design solutions to problems which typically require multiple engineers to implement.
- Demonstrate end-to-end ownership for the delivery of key efforts, and lead peers in the delivery of particularly broad efforts as a technical lead.
- Provide mentorship to more junior engineers, and play a role in growing the next generation of engineers at Snyk.
What You'll Need:
- At least 7 years of commercial experience as a Software Engineer.
- Experience in large-scale software systems design, and familiarity with fundamental computer science concepts (algorithms, complexity, data structures).
- Proficiency in at least one of our core programming languages (ideally Go), and a willingness and enthusiasm for learning new languages and technologies.
- Experience working with industry standard encryption algorithms, and an understanding of how to manage a zero-trust system.
- Familiarity with distributed system architectural challenges.
- A track record of successfully developing systems capable of handling substantial throughput.
- Building highly reliable, scalable microservice back-ends for web APIs or applications, or other types of large-scale, high reliability systems.
- Building infrastructure or platform automation, or observability or release tools.
- Demonstrable skill in effective software testing.
- Strong commitment to code quality, and the value of giving and receiving feedback through code reviews.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, and respond with agility when requirements and priorities change.
- Effective communicator both verbally and in writing. Able to work collaboratively, be curious and have a growth mindset.
- Ability to lift the performance of a team through coaching and mentoring of more junior engineers.
We'd Be Lucky If You:
- Have experience with and understand how Envoy, Istio, and their filter-chains work.
- Have production-grade experience with Kubernetes or have worked with any of the popular cloud platform offerings from Google, Amazon, and Microsoft Azure.
- Enjoy working on early stage products; to identify, prioritize and solve problems iteratively and build something that our internal/external stakeholders really love.
- Feed off complex technical problems and find solutions where others see roadblocks.
- Embrace challenges and learn from them.
