Experienced Fire Alarm Project Manager required for major London installation projects. We are working on behalf of a long-established and highly respected Fire & Security contractor who, due to continued growth and a strong secured order book, are looking to appoint an experienced Fire Alarm Project Manager to oversee the delivery of multiple high-value projects across London and the South East.

This is a senior appointment suited to someone with a solid background managing large-scale fire alarm installations within the construction sector, who is comfortable taking full responsibility for a number of live contracts at any one time. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience delivering multiple projects in excess of £1m, coupled with a sound commercial understanding and previous experience operating under JCT forms of contract.

This is not a junior coordination role; our client requires a proven Project Manager who can run projects properly, protect margin, manage programme and maintain strong relationships with Main Contractors, M&E Contractors and end clients.

The Role

Reporting into the Contracts Director, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of several fire alarm installation projects from pre-start through to commissioning, practical completion and final account. Projects are typically high-spec commercial developments, residential schemes, education, healthcare and mixed-use sites, with contract values regularly exceeding £1 million.

Main Duties Will Include

  • Managing multiple concurrent fire alarm installation projects valued at £1m+
  • Full project delivery from initial mobilisation through to handover
  • Administration of projects under JCT Design & Build and Standard Forms of Contract
  • Attending and chairing progress meetings with Main Contractors, consultants and subcontractors
  • Producing and managing project programmes
  • Coordinating labour, site supervisors, commissioning engineers and specialist subcontractors
  • Monitoring procurement schedules and material lead times
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, cause & effect and technical submittals
  • Managing project costs, variations, valuations and change control

What We Are Looking For

To be considered, applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong and stable background in senior fire alarm project delivery.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within the Fire Alarm / Fire Detection sector
  • Strong track record managing multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Previous responsibility for contracts valued at £1 million and above
  • Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and contractual procedures
  • Experience working alongside Main Contractors and M&E Contractors on construction projects
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to manage variations and protect profitability
  • Strong technical understanding of fire alarm systems and associated life safety interfaces
  • Knowledge of BS5839 and current industry regulations
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Ability to drive projects with minimal supervision

Desirable

  • FIA qualifications
  • SMSTS / CSCS
  • Additional experience with smoke ventilation, disabled refuge, suppression or integrated life safety systems

In Return

Our client is offering:

  • Basic salary of £60,000 - £75,000 depending on experience
  • Car allowance
  • Performance bonus
  • Pension
  • Ongoing career progression into Senior Projects / Contracts Management

This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially secure business with a strong reputation in the market and a healthy pipeline of major London works.
