SNG (Sovereign Network Group) is one of the largest housing associations in England. We provide over 85,000 homes and invest in communities across the South, West and East of England, including London, as well as building thousands of new affordable homes every year. We have an opportunity for a Junior Data Privacy Coordinator to join our team. This role will be based in Basingstoke, with travel to other offices as and when required. The team are currently working 2 days a week in the office. The successful candidate will be working 3 days a week in the office for the first 2 months.
The Role: You will support the Data Privacy Team in delivering SNG’s data privacy programme, acting as a central point for managing and coordinating data privacy requests across the organisation. The role involves triaging requests, allocating work appropriately, and working closely with the team to ensure issues are resolved effectively. You will produce reports, provide data privacy insights and analysis, and develop and maintain dashboards to support informed decision-making. The role also includes coordinating and supporting responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs), maintaining key data protection records such as Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and incident logs. You will build strong working relationships across SNG, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving to protect and support the organisation’s interests.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Triaging and coordinating data privacy requests, including advice queries, complaints and DSARs.
- Supporting the business on data protection and privacy matters, including incidents, breaches and mitigating actions.
- Assisting with DPIAs, maintaining Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) and monitoring data protection KPIs.
- Supporting the review and maintenance of data protection policies, procedures and training materials.
- Working collaboratively across SNG to address privacy issues and support wider projects.
- Contributing to regulatory compliance activities, including policy development, training and monitoring.
- Role modelling SNG values, prioritising health and safety, and engaging in ongoing learning and development.
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
Essential:
- A good standard of education appropriate to the level and responsibilities of the role.
- Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently, managing and prioritising the intake and triage of data privacy queries.
- Sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and engage effectively with others.
Desirable:
- Degree-level education.
- Professional data protection qualifications (such as CIPP/E), or a willingness to work towards one.
- Strong research skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and external stakeholders.
