Role Overview
The QHSE Engineer will be responsible for solving day‑to‑day problems and anticipating health and safety, quality and environmental hazards. This role will support our teams in maintaining and improving compliance with the Quality Management System, ensuring products are to the correct standards, that they function effectively and meet the customers' expectations. In addition, this role will oversee health and safety processes/measures to minimise the frequency and risk of workplace incidents and injuries and work‑related ill‑health.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management
- Support the QHSE Manager in maintaining the Quality Management System and Quality Policy ensuring continued ISO9001 certification.
- Design & maintain quality standards, procedures and specifications for MPG.
- Ensuring that all processes meet safety, legal and other national or international standards.
- Review/audit existing procedures to ensure they meet the current guidelines.
- Quality Assurance / Control
- Ensure that supplied parts meet necessary requirements.
- Providing quality assurance technical expertise to support manufacturing.
- Review and test of sample/first article parts.
- Inspecting parts/materials for defects as appropriate.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Lead the resolution of quality related issues, identifying problems, participate in investigations, then collaborate to design and implement effective solutions.
- Health & Safety
- Support the QHSE Manager to maintain occupational health and safety policy and governance arrangements.
- Support the QHSE Manager to maintain a health and safety management system that reflects legal and good practice standards.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and audits to monitor performance. Measure and report health and safety performance.
- Identify hazards and complete risk assessments/incident investigations.
- Ensure corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) are developed, implemented and verified.
- Advise on the maintenance and improvement of safe systems of work.
- Train and educate MPG colleagues to enhance the health and safety culture.
- General
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in quality and safety.
- Prepare QHSE performance reports, dashboards and metrics.
Key Performance Indicators
- ISO9001 compliance/certification.
- NCR containment.
- Reduction in non-conformances/customer returns.
- Increase internal and external supplied quality.
- Documentation compliance.
- Internal audit plan on-time to plan.
- TRIR/Near misses.
- CAPA action closure.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience of ISO9001 Quality Management System (Essential).
- NEBOSH/IOSH (or similar) accreditation (Highly Desirable).
- Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively (Essential).
- Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail (Essential).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems required (Essential).
- Adaptability (Essential).
- Previous experience in a QHSE role (Desirable).
- In-depth knowledge of national or international industry regulations (Desirable).
