Role Overview
The Head of Logistics will build and lead a new group logistics function, setting up structures, processes, and governance across the MPG Group. This role is responsible for developing and implementing logistics strategy, managing 3PL and freight partners, and optimising the flow of goods across the network to improve cost, service, and delivery performance. It will establish logistics standards, define route-to-market (RTM) models, and drive process improvement and compliance across inbound, outbound, and international logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Establish and lead the Group Logistics function, developing processes, standards, and performance frameworks from inception.
- Develop and implement a logistics strategy to optimise global flow of goods, costs, and service performance.
- Own logistics cost management and drive continuous improvement in logistics margin through supplier optimisation and commercial collaboration.
- Partner with the Supply Chain Director & VP Global Supply Chain to align logistics initiatives with overall business transformation.
- Logistics Operations & Route-to-Market
- Lead inbound and outbound logistics and freight operations, optimising domestic and international shipments.
- Define and deliver RTM optimisation opportunities to improve cost and service levels.
- Develop a high-performing network of 3PLs and freight partners to support the MPG Group globally.
- Process map logistics activity across the supply chain and work with local and global teams to streamline and standardise ownership and execution.
- Commercial & Contract Management
- Own contractual negotiations, rate management, and SLA reviews with all 3PL and freight partners.
- Manage logistics performance through structured reviews, KPI tracking, and escalation processes.
- Partner with Finance and Commercial teams to align logistics costs and customer pricing models.
- Ensure adherence to agreed terms, delivery commitments, and service expectations.
- Governance, Compliance & Systems
- Define and embed logistics policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks across the group.
- Ensure adherence to customs and trade compliance requirements, including HTS codes, duties, and import/export documentation.
- Own visibility and accountability for trade compliance, partnering with local teams where execution is delegated.
- Support the future integration of logistics systems and tools as part of the supply chain transformation program.
- Performance & Reporting
- Establish logistics KPIs and reporting dashboards covering cost, OTIF, 3PL performance, and compliance.
- Own freight cost forecasting, budgeting, and reporting with Finance.
- Develop and maintain logistics performance tools, including dashboards, supplier scorecards, and cost-to-serve analysis.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Procurement, Supply Planning, Operations, Logistics partners, and Finance to align strategy, costs, and service.
- Partner with global and regional teams to ensure processes are efficient, standardised, and scalable.
- Provide logistics insight into S&OP and strategic planning processes to improve decision-making.

Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in logistics, transport, or supply chain leadership roles.
- Proven experience establishing logistics structures, systems, and supplier performance frameworks.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen with deep understanding of freight and 3PL cost management.
- Hands-on experience in 3PL contracting, SLA management, and rate negotiation.
- Strong knowledge of trade compliance, customs classification, and international freight operations.
- Collaborative leadership style with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across regions and levels.
- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, CILT membership or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Background in complex, multi-region logistics environments; automotive or aftermarket experience advantageous.
