AtkinsRéalis are looking for a Planning Engineer to support the planning and performance management of projects across our Nuclear Decommissioning portfolio, based in Whitehaven. The role will focus on developing, maintaining, and assuring high‐quality project schedules to support effective project delivery, reporting, and decision‐making.

Your role

  • Produce, update, and maintain resource loaded project schedules and associated documentation.
  • Work closely with the integrated project team, participating in project meetings and reviews while presenting schedule updates.
  • Contribute to timely internal and client reporting.
  • Conduct Critical Path Analysis (CPA), and the monitoring of key activities, milestones, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis.
  • Perform programme and schedule quality checks, including logic integrity, critical path validation, and baseline robustness, to ensure schedules are fit for purpose prior to reporting and submission.
  • Review resource requirements in line with the project schedule.
  • Produce variance analysis, reporting on change both against the baseline and in-period.
  • Support the management of change, assessing variances with the team and reflecting these within the schedule.
  • Contribute to the Risk process, ensuring relevant impacts are then incorporated into the schedule.

About you

  • Experience in a Planning related role.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, working well in a project team environment.
  • An understanding of the project environment and project lifecycles.
  • A good understanding of Earned Value Management.
  • Strong MS Office skills (particularly Word and Excel).
  • Experience in the Nuclear Decommissioning sector would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the NEC4 contract framework would be beneficial.
