Within our growing Buildings & Places business, we are seeking an ambitious and client-focused Project Manager to join our Southampton team and play a key role in delivering projects that shape the built environment across the South Coast and beyond.
Our Southampton team works with an established and growing portfolio of public and private sector clients, delivering project management and advisory services across a diverse range of property and development sectors. These include residential development, affordable housing, retirement living, education, healthcare, defence, commercial and industrial property, local government estates and wider placemaking initiatives.
The wider Buildings & Places business supports clients throughout the entire property lifecycle, from strategic business cases and development appraisals through to design, construction and operational delivery. Based in a vibrant waterfront city with excellent connections across the South Coast, Southampton offers an outstanding place to build a career.
Reporting to the Project Management Lead, you will support and lead the successful delivery of projects for regional clients, working with multidisciplinary teams, building trusted client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of our Project Management offering. Your role
- Deliver projects to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Manage project plans, risks, governance, and stakeholder coordination.
- Ensure compliance with client and AtkinsRéalis requirements.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, and forecasts.
- Support continuous improvement through lessons learned and innovation.
- Use digital tools to enhance delivery efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Promote effective communication and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Support client engagement and business development activities.
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and presentations.
- Champion AtkinsRéalis and its Buildings & Places capabilities.
About you
- Essential: Experience in project management, consultancy, construction, or the built environment sector.
- Experience supporting project delivery across property, infrastructure, or development projects.
- Strong planning, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of project controls, risk management, and governance principles.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach.
- Working towards or interested in achieving professional accreditation (APM, RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).
- Desirable: Degree in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Real Estate, or a related discipline.
- Experience in sectors such as residential, education, healthcare, defence, commercial, or public sector projects.
