Atkins Réalis is a leading UK engineering and design consultancy.
Our Networks & Drainage Solutions team delivers multidisciplinary projects for Water Companies, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, and international clients.
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to develop a hydraulic modelling team in our Sheffield city centre office and support an increasing portfolio.
Working with a broader team of engineers, you will deliver for a range of clients across the North West, North East and Midlands regions.
The role focuses on building capability in hydraulic modelling and managing project delivery in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project team with resource planning and management.
- Technical and project management of projects including; hydraulic model build and verification, storm water management, Su DS, drainage, option development, SOAF and WFD delivery.
- Undertake Project Manager responsibilities on projects where required.
- Support development of client relationships with key Water Company and other clients to support growth.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and estimates.
- Promote staff development through training, on-the-job experience, and personal development.
- Contribute to technical innovation and participate in improvement workgroups.

Essential Criteria

- Understanding of the UK Water Industry and regulatory issues.
- Proven track record in coordinating and delivering technically excellent projects on time and to budget.
- Attained or working towards chartered status (ICE or CIWEM).
- Skilled in the use of hydraulic modelling software.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and written/verbal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working on Storm Water Management and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS).
- Experience with software such as FME, Power BI, and/or programming tools (Ruby, Python, Visual Basic).
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Commercial understanding and project management skills.
- Ability to develop and motivate junior team members.
