As a Principal Coastal Engineer, you'll play a vital role in every aspect of coastal engineering on Transformational Programmes for critical UK infrastructure with opportunities to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad. We specialise in all aspects of coastal engineering, within multiple challenging and engaging sectors such as Water, Aviation, Defence, Energy, and Cities & Development. We continue to provide industry-leading coastal modelling and engineering solutions right through the project lifecycle, with value added through client-side support as well as construction phases. Your Purpose:

  • Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
  • Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.

What you can bring:

  • Chartered Civil Engineer.
  • Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Theoretical knowledge in ocean waves, tidal theory, extreme value statistics, nearshore wave processes, and sediment transport.
  • Design experience of coastal structures such as flood defences, sea walls, breakwaters, revetments, and beaches to appropriate codes and standards such as BS6349, EurOtop manual, and rock manual.
  • The ability to plan and direct others in the use of numerical modelling to simulate wave propagation, tidal flows, hydrodynamics, etc.

Rewards and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultants with a default of 25-days leave each year plus bank holidays and options to buy some or sell off that leave. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
