We are seeking to appoint a Principal Engineer / Associate Engineer to our Building Services practice, based in our Epsom office, which houses over 100 engineers in the LSE Region. You will collaborate with bid teams to identify business opportunities, develop comprehensive bid responses for building services, and manage project design teams to deliver services effectively.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Electrical engineering and Chartered with a relevant institution; minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Ability to influence senior management and peers, and to challenge constructively.
  • Experience in secure projects such as Defence/Nuclear is preferred.
  • High technical standing as an Electrical Building Services Engineer.
  • Extensive project experience with high-level technical competence.
  • Experience in major multi-discipline design projects.
  • Leadership and people management skills with potential to lead a team.
  • Good commercial awareness, business management skills, and results-oriented approach.
  • Customer-focused with strong relationship management skills.
  • Effective communication skills and a professional approach to clients and colleagues.
  • Structured approach to report writing and information collation.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial: Identify and secure project opportunities, take commercial responsibility for the Building Services team, and bid for projects in line with guidelines. Manage project costs effectively.
  • People: Build strong relationships with clients and develop client management strategies. Manage team performance, provide leadership, motivation, and development. Undertake appraisals and personal development plans. Recognize and nurture talent to build a high-performing team.
  • Technical: Full technical responsibility and operational accountability for team output. Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines. Ability to challenge and communicate effectively within design teams. Design experience in Electrical and Building Services, with a comprehensive understanding of design considerations.
  • Business Development: Develop and implement marketing plans and ensure regular business activities. Create marketing materials and bid documents. Maintain and grow a high-profile client base.

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based in Epsom, requiring attendance at the office/site/clients’ offices three days a week, with the remainder being hybrid. Travel to client sites and project locations may be necessary.
