We are seeking a Principal/ Associate Director level electrical engineer.

You will be working in within our Electrical Engineering team in our Power and Energy Solutions Practice based from one of our key locations of Birmingham, Epsom, Glasgow or Leeds.

You’ll enjoy working in a hybrid manner, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices or from home.

Your Purpose In this role you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for electrical infrastructure and utility systems across major infrastructure, energy, transportation, nuclear, and development projects.

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for utility coordination, network integration, electrical distribution systems, and stakeholder engagement with transmission and distribution network operators.

Your role

  • Leading the planning, coordination, and integration of utility infrastructure including HV, MV, and LV electrical networks.
  • Managing interfaces with National Grid, DNOs, ICPs, utility providers, regulators, and key stakeholders.
  • Providing technical leadership for utility diversions, new connections, capacity assessments, and network reinforcement works.
  • Developing electrical infrastructure strategies and long‑term power supply solutions for major projects.
  • Managing risks associated with utility interfaces, outages, network constraints, and programme delivery.

About you

In addition to having strong communication and leadership skills, you will have a proven track record delivering major infrastructure, energy, transportation, or nuclear projects.

  • You will be able to demonstrate a selection of the following experience and attributes:
  • Experience with transmission and distribution networks.
  • Experience managing utility diversions, new connections, and stakeholder interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of National Grid, DNO, ICP, and utility company processes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of HV/MV/LV power distribution systems.
  • Utility infrastructure coordination and protection systems.
  • Electrical design governance and assurance.
  • Network capacity assessments and connection strategies.
  • Utility asset relocation and diversion projects.
  • Construction power systems and temporary electrical supplies.
  • Relevant UK and international electrical standards.
  • Essential Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) Electrical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer and a Member of recognised professional institution (e. g., MIET, IEEE) desirable.
  • Experience of working in a similar sector e. g.

Nuclear, offshore wind, power transmission and distribution, airports and transportation, utilities, major infrastructure, energy transmission projects.
