As a Piping Engineer, you\’ll play an important role in your projects and across our Nuclear & Power Division. As well as delivering what\’s best for major organisations, you\’ll be able to point to something that improves thousands of lives every day and say, I helped to make this happen\’. You\’ll work on a broad range of projects with plenty of opportunities to develop your technical capabilities and keep yourself challenged.
Your purpose:
The role will entail leading projects to deliver piping solutions for the construction of new nuclear stations and systems at fusion research facilities, support the operation of the existing nuclear generating fleet and decommission nuclear sites.
Day-to-day activities may include the following:
- Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or other relevant qualification).
- Experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis.
- Experience in writing accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports (e.g. design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case references).
- Comfortable with engaging with existing and prospective clients, working at their sites, and investing time in understanding their issues, goals, and processes.
What you can bring:
In addition to having excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Technical practitioner able to demonstrate good engineering judgement and with good experience in using fundamental engineering skills.
- Experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis.
Desirable experience:
- Experience with working in a safety critical and heavily regulated environment such as nuclear power generation/decommissioning industries.
- Working towards chartership with a relevant professional institute.
- Experience in working with design codes such as ASME BPVC Section III, RCC-M, BS EN 13480, BS EN 13445.
- Awareness of UK legislation relating to piping.
