The predicted salary is between 60000 - 75000 £ per year.

Position located: Bristol, London, Cardiff or Swindon. Requires flexibility to travel 2 – 3 days per week across the UK and Ireland to participate in flagship projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead major rail projects as a Senior Project Manager, or smaller rail projects as a Project Director.
  • Ensure projects meet revenue, profit and cash‑flow targets, providing clear reporting.
  • Lead multi‑disciplinary teams of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Design Managers.
  • Plan resources with resource managers so projects are adequately supported.
  • Maintain alignment of teams on scope, programme, cost, risk, constraints and interfaces.
  • Meet client, governance, technical, HSE and quality requirements.
  • Manage project delivery and contract administration through the full project life cycle.
  • Share best practice and lessons learned across the project management community.
  • Support and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and other team members.
  • Build strong client relationships to support successful rail project delivery and win repeat work.
  • Support Regional Client Directors in shaping and delivering regional rail strategy.
  • Lead bids for rail opportunities, focussing on well‑planned solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant experience leading projects on large‑scale multidisciplinary UK infrastructure projects with design fees >£5million per annum, in a consultancy environment or equivalent client/contractor organisations.
  • Background in Project or Engineering Management with experience in the Heavy Rail or Light Rail/Mass Transit sector, delivering work for Network Rail, HS2, Transport for London, Transport for Greater Manchester or Principal Contractors.
  • Ability to collaborate constructively with clients while protecting and achieving AtkinsRéalis commercial objectives.
  • Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements.
  • Knowledge of NEC3, NEC4 or other bespoke contract forms, and experience deploying them.
  • Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (e.g., MAPM, MICE, PMQ, ChPP or equivalent) – desirable.

Security Clearance

This role may require a security clearance. Offers of employment will depend on obtaining an appropriate clearance level, with the UKSV vetting process. Candidates may need to provide proof of UK residency of at least five years.
