AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy and Water markets with key clients including HS2, Highways England and Network Rail. We are expanding and require a Drainage Design Specialist to join teams operating across the UK. We are looking for a strong collaborator capable of supporting teams and delivering on remote projects as part of our national Practice.
Responsibilities
- Technical Duties: Assume the Technical Lead role on projects to ensure Smarter, Faster and More Reliable outcomes for clients. Undertake Project Director roles on projects where required. Undertake Programme / Framework Manager roles on strategic, multi-disciplinary projects. Encourage staff participation in internal best practice forums and external profile-raising activities. Promote staff development through training, on-the-job experience and personal development.
- Business Duties: Encourage team integration. Ensure compliance with corporate standards and policies. Develop client relationships with key Water Company and non-Water Company clients to grow revenue and margin. Promote integration of traditional engineering skills with innovative digital methods. Support bidding opportunities to win work and identify and mitigate risks.
About you / Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of the drainage sector with excellent technical skills and a proven track record in business development, client management, project management and line management.
- Design leadership for drainage infrastructure, transportation and private developer projects with emphasis on highway drainage and development drainage including SuDS.
- Ability to lead the design from concept to detail design and construction, as a standalone project or within multi-disciplinary schemes.
- Promote development of digital solutions in drainage design, including full BIM integration.
- Oversee and review production of drainage designs, models, calculations and drawings to relevant standards, and provide technical assurance.
- Manage drainage design tasks, programmes and budgets; lead the technical development of graduates and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Develop stakeholder relationships to support the drainage design and consents process; support local teams to enhance drainage capability; lead designs and provide technical assurance for work produced in the Global Design Centre.
- Mentor engineers, graduates and technicians; contribute technical input to bids, including quality submissions, drainage strategy and design approach, and input to price via fee proposals and delivery programmes including risk assessment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to build relationships with internal staff and external clients; flexible with multi-tasking and prioritisation; full clean UK driving licence.
