Welcome to AtkinsRéalis, Complex Projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Cost Manager who possesses proven experience, notably in the Utility, Energy and Infrastructure sectors, to join our Cost Management Team within our London and South East Region Project Controls Practice. The role will involve delivering work with both existing and new clients and working with our Cost Management team to ensure our technical service offering is kept to the highest standard, whilst having a strong team working ethos and delivering in accordance with AtkinsRéalis' digital aspirations.

You will play an integral part in helping deliver the business plan for this rapidly expanding team and support in driving success in the London and South East Region. You will innovate and foster a collaborative, professional and positive working environment along with delivering an appropriate cost management role.

Your role

  • Responsibilities: Reporting into the Cost Management Lead, you will be responsible for building long term, sustainable relationships with both members of our own organisation, and wider Client base.
  • Support our Cost Management capability including development and use of Power-BI, PRISM, Oracle, Ecosys, SAP and other Cost Management related software.
  • Engage our community of practice and support technical excellence, service innovation and development of our benchmarking capabilities.
  • Deliver excellent client service on our commissions.
  • Support teams on project / technical delivery.
  • Strategic: Support with delivering the strategy for the Cost Management Service including identifying continuous development.
  • Deliver an exceptional cost management service for multiple stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, linked to the Complex Infrastructure business strategy.
  • Ensure appropriate engagement with the wider AtkinsRéalis business, as determined by the strategy.
  • Contribute to a positive team ethos and engage with opportunities for the team's development.
  • Business Development: Support with the Cost Management business development activity.
  • Opportunities to support Key Account Management activities.
  • Engagement and understanding of internal business processes.
  • Support key accounts to maximise our impact.
  • Project Leadership: Having responsibility in supporting the delivery of portfolios and projects.
  • Be the ambassador for AtkinsRéalis, your profession and the professional institution to which you belong.
  • Supporting with technical advice to different stakeholders.
  • Competence in project commercial accountability.
  • Technical Leadership: Actively broaden your experience and expertise in line with the core competencies.
  • Have a developing knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to the work you do, and the law of the region or country in which you practice.
  • Participating in relevant internal/external training initiatives.
  • Applying the concepts of quality assurance and environmental management.
  • Supporting the client relationship and service delivery.
  • Team Building and Management: Helping grow our service and sector-focused teams.
  • Actively engaging within a project delivery environment.
  • Mentor and develop Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within AtkinsRéalis.

Attributes:

  • Experience working for or on behalf of local or national Complex Infrastructure clients.
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment, delivering exceptional projects.
  • Degree qualified in a construction or finance related field.
  • Be open to travelling to roles across other regions should a strategic opportunity arise.

About you

  • Technical experience in Cost Management services across complex infrastructure.
  • An understanding of industry benchmarks / best practices, Cost and Work Breakdown Structures, and methods of measurements (e.g. RMM, NRM etc).
  • Growing network within the energy and/or infrastructure sectors.
  • An aptitude to apply innovation, technical excellence, and exceptional service delivery.
  • Experience of monitoring, analysing, and controlling cost performance against set targets.
  • Examples of identifying/applying cost efficient solutions.
  • Collaborative behaviours to interface with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Awareness of the challenges and opportunities in the industry.
  • Commercial, quantity surveying, and/or finance skills, with working knowledge of the construction industry, and an understanding of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC/FIDIC/IChemE).
  • Awareness of performance measurement of projects using Earned Value Management (EVM) and similar techniques.
  • Knowledge and awareness of cost analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of using VBA is desirable but not essential.
