Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced HV M&E Installation Supervisor to oversee the installation of high-voltage electrical systems on substation projects across the portfolio in the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HV substation works, particularly in Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) installations up to 400kV, and will be responsible for supervising site activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and coordinating with project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the installation of AIS busbars up to 400kV.
  • Oversee the installation of HV equipment such as support structures, post CTs, CVTs and post insulators.
  • Plan the work efficiently, organize plant, materials, and site facilities to meet agreed project deadlines.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise during installation.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to ensure smooth execution of site work.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to site teams.
  • Review and verify installation documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in HV substation installation works.
  • Proven competence in installing AIS busbars up to 400kV.
  • Experience installing HV equipment.
  • Strong understanding of documentation processes including RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in transformer installation.
  • Experience in GIS installation.
  • National Grid (NG) authorisations.
  • Previous experience working with NG, SSE, and Scottish Power.
  • Relevant electrical or engineering qualifications.
