We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Senior Geo-environmental Consultant to join our Sustainable Land and Resource Management (SLRM) team in Scotland. We are seeking a confident and driven individual with a strong technical background and experience in a range of projects, working with our experienced staff, to deliver excellence to our clients. Our client and project base are highly diverse with current projects in the Energy, Water, Buildings and Places and Transportation markets in the UK and around the world. AtkinsRéalis Environmental Consultants use the full range of their skills, working on multi-disciplinary projects as well as providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance, constructive support and mentoring to junior staff and support their technical development.
  • Provide technical input and deliver contaminated land projects / geoenvironmental aspects of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Project manage and technically deliver a wide variety of projects, including management of finances and programme delivery.
  • Organise, manage and check site work.
  • Liaison with clients, stakeholders, regulators, sub-contractors and other internal disciplines.
  • Support senior management in developing new business and winning work and preparing commercial offers.
  • Lead on the development of H&S Plans for site investigations and manage health and safety during site works.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a First degree in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science).
  • Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. with the Geological Society, ICE or CIWEM). If not Chartered, entitlement to become chartered within 6 to 12 months after joining.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience as an environmental consultant within consultancy, industry, regulatory or academic fields with a track record in delivering work, client management and stakeholder liaison.
  • Demonstrable understanding of UK environmental and regulatory framework.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience of OpenGround, QGIS, P20.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding, including ability to complete tenders.
  • Experience handling large data sets, developing graphic representations of data or new digital ways of working.
  • Skills in GIS and computer programming, and knowledge of engineering geology/hydrogeology would be an advantage.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. The applicant will not be asked to provide details of current or previously held security clearance on application.
