We are looking for someone to join our successful Water Management Consultancy groundwater resources team in delivering a growing portfolio of projects. Our groundwater team works at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and environmentally sustainable water supplies for the future while ensuring water habitats are protected from new infrastructure development. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve groundwater resource evaluation, development and management and environmental impact investigation for water companies, other major water users and regulators. Building on this success, we are growing our friendly and approachable team and this growth could include you. Your role

  • Helping to deliver our portfolio of groundwater modelling projects, working with our hydrogeologist technical leads and other technical disciplines.
  • Undertake work assigned to you to a high standard, self-checking to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Undertake complex problem solving that may include data gathering and processing, calculations and modelling, conceptualisation and report writing.
  • Work closely with the rest of the groundwater resources team. Collaborative and supportive teamwork is vital to our success.
  • Work broadly across other hydrogeological assessments and water resources modelling applications alongside the focus on groundwater modelling.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines in the Water Management Consultancy team and beyond, delivering a range of projects relating to water supply, strategic planning, resource optimisation and environmental assessment.

About you

  • A degree in science, engineering or mathematics and a post-graduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related subject.
  • Demonstrable experience as a groundwater modeller within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
  • Experience which may include groundwater modelling for water resources, including building, developing and updating conceptual and numerical models at a regional scale and model use in assessment of abstraction impacts on the environment for water companies and regulators.
  • An understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the regulatory framework of UK water management.
  • A commitment to work towards chartership through a relevant professional body.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to solve challenging water resources problems within a high achieving team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels to support collaborative working and the building of high quality colleague and client relationships.
  • Experience using MODFLOW and recharge models such as 4R or SWAc is desirable, as is an ability to code (Python, R, Fortran, VBA) or skills in GIS. Similarly, an ability to develop new and innovative approaches is encouraged, to help us continue to develop our digital tools.
  • Enthusiasm to continue to develop your skills and keep abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • A valid full UK driving licence.
