Responsibilities
- Work individually and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Client facing: demonstrate a deep understanding of clients' requirements, seek support from the business to fulfil those requirements, develop relationships and lead nationally important infrastructure projects, managing project programmes and budgets, collaborating within multi‑disciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders and clients.
- Interdisciplinary engagement: actively seek opportunities to cross‑sell and leverage Atkins Réalis' capabilities, prepare bids, support strategic opportunities, build client relationships (internal and external) and drive work‑winning in the region.
- Undertake technical check and review of ecological reports and licence applications.
- Undertake ecological assessment and habitat design for a variety of development and nature recovery projects.
- Develop innovative and pragmatic approaches to ecological mitigation and compensation.
- Deliver clear and concise, high‑quality ecological deliverables in line with current guidance and good practice.
- Coach, mentor and support other staff members in their development.
- Act as ecology lead on projects and manage task and project delivery.
Qualifications
- A passion for ecology.
- Exemplary working knowledge of the natural environment and wildlife legislation.
- Chartered through the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), CEcol, CEnv or actively working towards this.
- Experience of working on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and familiarity with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process.
- Ability to undertake and technically advise on UKHab surveys, Preliminary Ecological Assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
- Ideally strong botanical skills, including Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) level 3+ or demonstrable botanical ability matching this level.
- Strong project management experience covering technical, financial and quality assurance aspects.
- Experience in protected species survey, mitigation and licensing.
- Understanding and demonstrable experience of the importance of work‑winning through both bidding and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ability to manage ecology deliverables and projects from bidding through to completion.
- A full UK/EEC driving licence.
- Security Clearance
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer.
