Job Overview

AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice team seeks experienced Associate Director/Associate/Principal/Senior Critical Infrastructure Electrical Design Engineers to join the Epsom or London team supporting project delivery across the UK. We work across aviation, residential, commercial, education, healthcare, transportation, defence, and energy sectors. Experience in defence and energy sectors would be beneficial.

Office Location

Team located in Epsom or London. Semi‑flexible working: attend home office at least 3 days a week or site as required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Understand project briefs and design electrical systems, including LV & MV power, earthing, renewable technologies such as PV and BESS, and connection to the grid.
  • Carry out detailed calculations using industry-standard software: Trimble Prodesign, ETAP, PV design tools, etc.
  • Prepare technical specifications and collaborate with the BIM team to produce models and drawings utilizing Autodesk Revit.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
  • Write technical reports and notes; maintain complete records and archives to company standards.
  • Adhere to quality, environmental and governance processes.
  • Assist in the technical development of junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related subject.
  • Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET preferred.
  • Good computer literacy in ETAP, Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of energy‑reduction methods, decarbonisation, PV systems, and BESS systems.
  • Experience in design consultancy or contractor design environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of technical standards and ability to take charge of project deliverables.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to clients.
  • Ability to work within time and cost budgets.
