Job Overview
Associate Director / Estimating Manager – Complex Infrastructure (Project & Programme Services – PPS).
Lead estimating service delivery across high‑profile schemes in Infrastructure, Transport and Energy sectors, from feasibility to detailed design.
Provide high‑quality client outputs, develop and enforce quality assurance processes, and support the growth of the estimating team and the broader practice.
Responsibilities
- Produce Class 5 (order‑of‑magnitude) to Class 1 (bottom‑up) estimates for multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Manage and support bids, proposals and win‑work activities to grow the portfolio.
- Guide the estimating team through full take‑offs, peer reviews and continuous improvement.
- Author basis‑of‑estimate reports for Director reviews and client submissions.
- Utilise estimating software, client benchmarking data, in‑house data and market data to form and assess estimates.
- Lead internal reviews and quality assurance of all client deliverables following governance procedures.
- Showcase advanced knowledge of measurement methods and cost analysis techniques.
- Engage stakeholders, communicating complex issues and solutions in a concise format.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert and bridge connections within the Estimating & Cost Advisory practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field.
- Chartered status or demonstrable progress towards RICS, ICE, AACE, ACost E or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of contingency, risk allowances, commercial and contractual requirements.
- Expertise in indirect costs, cost breakdown structures and project deliverability analysis.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across designers, engineers, project managers and clients.
- Adaptability to work across multiple sectors and disciplines, with a drive to continuously learn.
- Capability to secure appropriate security clearance (ideally but not mandatory).
