Your role:

  • UX Design subject matter expertise: Able to break down complex design problems and provide UX design and user-centered design guidance across the full design lifecycle, including interaction design, information architecture, service design, accessibility, and design systems, both internally and to our customers.
  • Shape UX contributions to bids and proposals: Lead and support proposal development by shaping UX approaches, design strategies, and experience visions that respond to both internal and external customer demand.
  • Contribute to increased awareness of, engagement with, and adoption of user-centered design (UCD) and UX capabilities across AtkinsRéalis, projects and clients.
  • Manage client relationships: Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, understanding their needs and ensuring they are met through high-quality outcomes. Provide regular updates on design progress, risks, and dependencies, and respond proactively to customer enquiries and concerns.
  • Design assurance: Provide assurance to new UX and service designs, ensuring they meet user needs, accessibility standards, and business objectives. Undertake reviews and assurance of existing experiences, journeys, and design practices to identify usability, consistency, and experience risks.
  • Technical and team leadership: Lead and support multidisciplinary teams including designers, researchers, developers, and client stakeholders. Provide coaching, mentoring and UCD thinking within your project and teams.

About you:

  • Expertise in creating high-quality UX artefacts, roadmaps, and plans, including experience strategies, service blueprints, user journeys, interaction prototypes, and design system contributions using a range of design tools, with the ability to track progress and communicate design decisions to stakeholders.
  • Expertise in assessing user experience and design needs across complex products and services, providing guidance across the product lifecycle and ensuring experiences are designed and delivered in alignment with user needs, accessibility standards, and business goals.
  • Experience owning and improving experience quality metrics, such as usability findings, accessibility compliance, customer satisfaction, or behavioural insights, identifying experience issues and driving design improvements through iterative solutions.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards, including WCAG, inclusive design practices, and familiarity with design systems and component-based design approaches.
  • With a good mix of Articulate, with a passion for advocating for users and driving meaningful digital and service design change.
  • Strategic enterprise and business awareness; able to understand client objectives and translate them into coherent, usable, and scalable UX design solutions.
  • Ability to analyse, structure, and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data to inform strong design decisions and ensure consistency, usability, and maintainability.
  • Experience in Government Digital Service (GDS) projects, supporting teams through Alpha and Beta assessments.
  • Competent soft skills, including effective stakeholder communication, collaboration, diversity and equality, and a people-first mindset.
