In this role you will be responsible for creating and executing external communications plans across the UK & Ireland business, strengthening our market positioning and sharing expert perspectives, transformative projects and company news through strategic media relations and content. You’ll be based in the UK and join our global network of external communication experts. This hybrid role reports into the Senior Manager for External Communications – UK & Ireland.
Your role
- Strategy, planning and execution: Create and deliver external communications strategies for the UK & Ireland business, translating regional priorities into messaging and plans that strengthen market positioning and enhance our reputation with external audiences. Identify and amplify key initiatives, contract wins, campaigns and other business activity to raise the profile of AtkinsRéalis with press and other external audiences, including support of corporate social media channels. Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, internal comms, and business units, to ensure consistent messaging and integrated campaigns. Contribute to planning and delivery of international external communications activity as part of the global centre of expertise for External Communications.
- Media relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts to secure coverage, respond to media queries and identify tactical opportunities to respond to the news agenda. Work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure consistency of messaging and tone of voice in external messaging, delivered by a diverse mix of spokespeople. Support senior leaders with external comms, including media engagement, editorial and keynote speeches at public events. Provide strategic external communications advice to the business, including issues management.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Relevant experience in external communications, public relations, or media relations, ideally within a corporate or agency environment.
- Excellent written skills, with experience creating compelling PR‑led content, including editorial and features.
- Proven experience creating and delivering External Communications strategies and plans: knowledge of the UK media landscape is essential.
- Ability to translate complex topics into straightforward language: knowledge of engineering, infrastructure and/or the energy sector is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with media and internal stakeholders at all levels, with proven experience of working with senior leadership.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
