We are looking for someone to join our successful Water Management Consultancy groundwater resources team in supervising and delivering a growing portfolio of projects. Our hydrogeologists work at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and environmentally sustainable water supplies for the future while ensuring water habitats are protected from new infrastructure development. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve groundwater resource evaluation, development and management and environmental impact investigation for water companies, other major water users and regulators. Building on this success, we are growing our friendly and approachable team and this growth could include you. Your purpose:
- Win, deliver and manage our portfolio of groundwater projects working with our hydrogeologist technical leads and other technical disciplines.
- Develop trusted client relationships.
- Champion high standards of performance.
- Undertake work to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Undertake and delegate complex problem solving which may include data gathering and processing, calculations and modelling, conceptualisation, reporting, proposal writing and costing.
- Contribute to development of new and innovative approaches.
- Develop new areas of business for the team.
- Work closely with the rest of the groundwater resources team sometimes delegating to, reviewing the work of and mentoring more junior staff. Collaborative and supportive teamwork is vital to our success.
- Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines in the Water Management Consultancy team and beyond, delivering a range of projects relating to water supply, strategic planning, resource optimisation and environmental assessment.
What you can bring
- A degree in science, engineering or mathematics, a post-graduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related subject, and ideally chartership you are likely to be chartered through a relevant professional body.
- Substantial demonstrable experience as a hydrogeologist within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
- Experience in water resources hydrogeology and hydrology, for example Water Industry National Environment Programme investigations (low flow, Water Framework Directive No Deterioration or Environmental Destination, catchment water quality), signal and pumping tests, borehole design, groundwater flooding or water resource planning.
- Good understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the operational and environmental regulatory framework of UK water management.
- Experience leading projects through the project life-cycle of problem definition, data collection, analysis, interpretation and drawing succinct conclusions and recommendations.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
- Enthusiasm and motivation to solve challenging water resources problems within a high achieving team environment.
- Ablility to communicate effectively at all levels to support collaborative working and the building of high-quality client relationships.
