Our Buildings and Places team delivers high‑profile construction projects worldwide. We are looking to recruit a high‑calibre Associate Director for our Project & Programme Management Team in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
- Lead the management and execution of construction projects through the entire project life cycle, utilising best‑practice methodology.
- Establish and build positive and collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders in accordance with AtkinsRéalis values.
- Act as the lead client interface in providing service delivery, demonstrating your role as a key stakeholder, account lead and first point of contact.
- Be responsible for the commercial success of projects placed under your control, including effective management of project accounts, governance and resource requirements.
- Ensure service delivery compliance with AtkinsRéalis policies, toolkits and standards.
- Line‑manage junior team members, providing guidance, leadership and technical expertise.
- Act as a mentor and coordinate and support the development activities of junior team members.
- Work with regional and UK sector and account leads to drive the development of new business opportunities in line with business strategy.
- Prepare fee proposals and bid submissions.
- Lead large‑scale, complex projects from inception to completion with minimal support from senior colleagues.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to the work and apply fundamentals of quality assurance and environmental management.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a construction‑related discipline.
- Professional membership of a recognised institution (MRICS, MAPM or equivalent).
- Recent experience in a project‑management consultancy role within Development, Commercial Property or Public sectors.
- Acting experience in an NEC Project Manager role.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering effective project management services to clients, ideally within Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to proactively lead multi‑disciplinary project teams.
- Ability to articulate construction industry knowledge and technical excellence to clients and colleagues.
- Experience of administering standard UK building contracts (NEC, SBCC and JCT forms) and advising on procurement routes.
- Effective review of contract documents, familiarity with contractual obligations, breaches and remedies.
- Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to the UK construction industry.
- Commitment to ongoing personal development.
- Valid UK driving licence.
Security Clearance
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process will be delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting and may require proof of residency in the UK of five years or longer.
