About Us
Snappy Shopper is the UK’s fastest‑growing quick commerce (Q‑commerce) platform powering rapid grocery delivery from local convenience stores. We enable independent retailers and major partners, including SPAR, Nisa, Premier, Co‑op and others, to digitally transform their business by offering same‑day and rapid delivery of food, drink and everyday essentials within as little as 30‑60 minutes. Customers on our platform typically spend significantly more online than in‑store, helping retailers grow revenue and deepen community engagement. We’re more than a delivery app, we’re a technology partner for local high streets, providing tools for digital sales, marketing solutions, and integrations that help retailers compete with larger online players. At Snappy Shopper, we’re committed to innovation, retail empowerment and community impact, helping stores thrive digitally, offering exceptional local convenience to customers, and shaping the future of on‑demand retail in the UK.
Our location
We are a UK company with colleagues across the country and offices in Dundee and Edinburgh. This is a full‑time, Monday to Friday, remote role with occasional requirement to attend our offices.
About The Team
Our Platform Engineering team provides the infrastructure that keeps Snappy Shopper running. From cloud architecture and networking to automation, security and observability, they enable our development teams to ship confidently and our customers to enjoy a fast, reliable experience.
About The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll help shape and evolve the platform behind one of the UK’s leading Q‑commerce businesses. Working across AWS, automation, CI/CD and platform reliability, you’ll ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable and resilient as we continue to grow.
- Manage and improve our AWS infrastructure and cloud networking
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines to help engineering teams ship safely and efficiently
- Maintain the platforms our services depend on, including nginx, Redis and OpenSearch
- Monitor platform health, respond to production incidents and drive root cause analysis
- Develop automation and tooling using Python and Bash to reduce manual effort
- Work closely with Software Engineers to improve reliability, performance and developer experience
This role includes participation in our on‑call rota once you’re fully onboarded. You’ll bring solid experience in a similar DevOps or Platform Engineering role and be comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, Linux systems and production environments. You’ll also be comfortable taking ownership when it matters most. Whether responding to a production incident or supporting a major release, you remain calm, communicate clearly and focus on restoring service while identifying opportunities to prevent similar issues in future.
Ideally, you’ll have experience with:
- AWS infrastructure and networking
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Linux administration
- CI/CD pipelines
- Python and Bash automation
- nginx, Redis and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- CDN and WAF technologies
- Monitoring and observability platforms
Most importantly, you enjoy solving complex problems, automating repetitive work and building reliable systems that engineers love to use.
