Snapology programs incorporate the use of LEGO bricks, K'NEX & Technology to teach STEM learning concepts, Teamwork, and Social Skills to preschool and school age children.

NOTE: This position will involve instructing camps and leading field trip activities in West Chester, Mason, Blue Ash, and possibly further east on an isolated occasion or two.

The primary focus of a Part Time Snapology Summer Camp Instructor will be to teach Snapology programs. Part Time Snapology Summer Camp Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 3-14. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Pay: Teaching pay is $20/hour. Non Teaching pay (in person training, non teaching times, lunch hour, etc.) is paid at $17/hour.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
  • Assist with set up of materials, equipment and supplies needed for programs (typically LEGO bins, tablets, craft supplies)
  • Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activities
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs & encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
  • Transport learning materials to class/workshop/field trip location (as needed)
  • Collaborate and work with other instructors, assistants and leadership
  • Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required
  • Communicate any issues and feedback to leadership

Qualifications:

  • Criminal and Child Clearances current or willing to undergo screening (reimbursed)
  • 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred, teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • Reliable transportation that can also be used to transport materials and supplies (if/as needed)
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs

Programs & Availability:

  • SUMMER: Weekday Daytime Availability (between the hours of 7:30 am and 5 pm)
  • Summer Camps in June & July (required)
  • SUMMER: Weekday Daytime Summer Camps the week of May 27th & the week of August 5th (preferred)
  • YEAR ROUND: Weekend Workshops and/or Birthday Parties (optional)
  • DURING SCHOOL YEAR: After School Classes/Workshops (optional)
  • DURING SCHOOL YEAR: Evening Classes/Workshops (optional)
  • YEAR ROUND: Special events, holiday and break workshops (optional)

Snapology Summer Camp instructors are required to work a minimum of 25 hours per week and will typically not be asked to work more than 48 hours per week. Pay range is reflective of above.
