The Job
Our client is seeking a highly qualified UK-based Forensic Accountant to join our expert witness roster. This freelance role involves providing professional financial analysis and expert opinion in support of legal cases involving fraud, asset tracing, commercial disputes, and financial misconduct.
You’ll contribute to cases across civil, criminal, and regulatory contexts, working remotely and flexibly, while focusing solely on your forensic expertise. We handle all administrative tasks so you can concentrate on delivering expert-level insight that supports legal teams, courts, and investigators.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth forensic reviews of financial statements, accounting records, and transaction histories.
- Identify and document irregularities, misappropriations, or fraudulent activity.
- Prepare clear, well-structured reports in line with legal standards and templates.
- Provide independent analysis for casework, including commercial litigation, matrimonial disputes, asset recovery, and white-collar crime.
- Collaborate with legal teams and respond to case-specific questions or follow-up requests.
- Maintain confidentiality and objectivity throughout all engagements.
The Profile
- Must be based in the UK and have completed UK-based accounting training.
- Former Big Four experience (PwC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG) strongly preferred.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–10 years of experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigation, or financial litigation support.
- Experience producing expert witness reports and/or giving testimony in legal proceedings is a plus.
- Strong analytical and written communication skills; precision and clarity in reporting essential.
- Ability to manage projects independently and meet deadlines reliably.
