We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Lunchtime Assistant to join our team at Snapdragons Redland.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to support their care and wellbeing during the important lunchtime period (11am-
3.00pm) As a Lunchtime Assistant, you will play a key role in helping to create a calm, safe, and enjoyable environment during meals and transitions into rest or afternoon activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children in preparing for lunchtime (e.g. handwashing, setting up tables)
- Assist with the serving of meals and snacks in line with dietary requirements and hygiene standards
- Offer help and encouragement to children during mealtimes, including feeding support for babies and younger children where appropriate
- Create a calm, positive atmosphere during lunch, encouraging good table manners and social interaction
- Support children in preparing for sleep or quiet time after lunch, ensuring comfort and reassurance
- Engage children in age-appropriate play and activities before and after mealtimes
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with the clearing and cleaning of eating areas
- Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and food hygiene policies and procedures at all times
- Communicate effectively with room staff and report any concerns to the Room Leader or Nursery Manager
Essential
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Warm, approachable, and reliable with good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Awareness of hygiene, safety, and safeguarding in a childcare setting
- Willingness to undergo relevant training (e.g. food hygiene, safeguarding)
Desirable
- Previous experience in a nursery or childcare setting
- Knowledge of early years routines and age-appropriate care
- Paediatric first aid or food hygiene certification (training provided)
