Snapdragons Nursery is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Toddlers to lead our Toddler Room with confidence, creativity, and care. This is a key leadership role within our nursery, responsible for delivering outstanding early years education and preparing children for their transition to school. As Head of Toddlers, you will be at the forefront of our learning provision for children aged 2-3 yrs, overseeing the curriculum, guiding a talented team of practitioners, and working closely with families to support every child’s journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Lead the day-to-day running of the Toddler room, ensuring high standards of care, teaching, and learning are consistently delivered in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Curriculum Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate a rich, balanced, and child‑led curriculum that promotes school readiness, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Team Development: Supervise, mentor, and inspire your team of Early Years Practitioners, apprentices, and students. Foster a positive, professional working culture where staff feel valued and supported.
- Child Development: Monitor children's progress through observations, assessments, and planning. Ensure that all children's individual needs are identified, met, and effectively documented.
- Parent Partnerships: Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, ensuring regular communication and meaningful involvement in their child's development and pre‑school experience.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Uphold and promote the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. Ensure all statutory requirements are met and recorded accurately.
- Transitions: Prepare children for a successful move to primary school through effective teaching, emotional support, and collaboration with families and local schools.
Qualifications
- Level 3 (or higher) Childcare qualification
- 2 years+ experience in a nursery setting
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Deep understanding of child development, the EYFS, and school readiness
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
