Provide leadership and direction for EHS Specialists, including performance management, coaching, career development, and succession planning. Influence organizational decision making by integrating EHS considerations into operational, engineering, and business planning processes. Build a high performance safety culture focused on accountability, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
- Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Own EHS management systems, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HSG65 principles, and Snap corporate standards. Provide strategic oversight of compliance with applicable UK, U.S., and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Establish governance processes for compliance, auditing, inspections, corrective actions, and management reviews. Lead enterprise-level risk assessments for manufacturing, cleanroom, and R&D operations. Ensure effective management of regulatory obligations, permits, compliance documentation, agency interactions, and external audits.
- Manufacturing, R&D and High-Hazard Program Ownership: Own EHS programs supporting manufacturing, engineering, R&D, cleanroom, facilities, and operational functions. Provide strategic oversight of hazardous materials, hazardous waste, chemical safety, machine safety, contractor safety, laser safety, industrial hygiene, and hazardous gas safety programs. Establish governance and performance standards for hazardous gas systems, including toxic and hazardous gas storage, distribution, monitoring, and emergency response programs. Partner with Engineering, Facilities, Manufacturing, Workplace Services, and Operations leaders to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into facility design, equipment procurement, commissioning, and operational changes. Provide EHS leadership for capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, new technologies, and operational scale-up initiatives through proactive risk management and design review.
- Organizational Capability & Culture: Develop EHS competency frameworks, training strategies, and leadership engagement programs for employees, contractors, and leaders. Lead safety committees, emergency response teams, and cross-functional governance forums to strengthen accountability and operational excellence. Promote the sharing of lessons learned, best practices, and standardized methodologies across locations.
- Program Management & Continuous Improvement: Establish EHS maturity assessments and continuous improvement roadmaps. Manage EHS budgets, resource planning, and annual objectives. Utilize data analytics, leading indicators, and risk trends to identify opportunities for operational improvement and risk reduction. Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for EHS investments, staffing, and growth initiatives.
- Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness: Lead investigations of serious incidents, significant near misses, and high potential events across assigned Specs locations. Ensure robust root cause analysis methodologies are applied and corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustained. Oversee emergency preparedness and EHS business continuity programs across assigned Specs locations, ensuring organizational readiness for operational disruptions, emergency events, and EHS business continuity risks. Provide strategic leadership during significant incidents and emergency events, coordinating with site leadership, Security, Workplace Services, and executive stakeholders to support response and recovery efforts.
