Overview of role
The position is for Oscar's Support Worker, a 22‑year‑old male with cerebral palsy, wheelchair user, non‑verbal, and currently has limited movement below the neck following spinal surgery. Your role will provide full personal care, support communication, facilitate meaningful interaction, promote wellbeing, and adapt activities to suit his abilities. The job is 1:1 in the family home, sometimes alongside another Support Worker for outings, holidays or additional support. Extra hours and an additional Saturday each month may be available.
Remuneration
£16.00 per hour on weekdays and £18.00 per hour on weekends. After six months the rates increase to £17.00 weekdays and £19.00 weekends. The role offers up to £19.00 gross per hour, with a £500 loyalty bonus after twelve months of service.
Qualifications
- Essential: Genuine interest in supporting a young adult with additional needs and ability to work at least two Saturdays or Sundays a month.
- Desirable: Prior experience supporting a young adult with a physical disability.
Driving Requirements
Ability to drive Oscar's adapted manual vehicle for community outings.
Work Details
Approximate 28 hours per week with flexible shift patterns. Additional night shifts may be required.
Accommodation: Separate carer’s office available with kitchen facilities.
