The Spectacles team creates our hardware products with world-class research & development. We are focused on pushing the boundaries of what a camera can be, specifically overlaying computing on the real world. Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life.

What we are looking for?

Workplace Experience (WX) is responsible for the design, build, and operations of all Snap workspace globally. The team includes Portfolio Management, Design & Construction Management, Data, Technology & Planning, Workplace Operations, Food and Onsite Events. We’re looking for a Design and Construction Project Manager based in Abingdon, UK that fully supports our on-going construction projects in our Spectacles R&D facilities, namely the offices and cleanrooms at Milton Business Park in Abingdon, UK. The primary focus will be delivering Post Occupancy Project (POP) projects, which can range from large tool installations to lab or office expansions.

This role will partner closely with our third-party facilities/workplace team, Snap People, Security, ITDE and EHS teams, as well as key business leaders within the Snap Lab global team.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the full design and construction lifecycle of a project from scope definition and feasibility to handover
  • Drive successful completion of high volume and velocity of key projects across cleanrooms, technical labs, and offices for the Spectacles teams
  • Overall manager of project from conceptual design, construction management, and project delivery, resulting in the completion of projects in cleanrooms, technical labs, and office space.
  • Ensure all construction projects are delivered to a high standard and are in compliance with local, global and regional policies and guidelines.
  • Manage the development of capital budget planning, project variance tracking and reporting
  • Manage the overall project schedule to ensure projects are delivered on time and coordinated with all relevant stakeholders and partners
  • Manage external consultants, contractors, architects, and and vendors to ensure they deliver on time, within budget and are fully compliant with health and safety legislation
  • Regularly report on status of all Post Occupancy Projects (POP) that vary in size and scope
  • Effectively communicate with Spectacles leaders, the project team, and key internal stakeholders such as FM, IT, Security, Events and others through accurate and timely reporting
  • Manage dependencies, resources and scheduling constraints, and any issues across multiple projects
  • Carry out post project reviews to establish learnings and best practice to help evolve our design guidelines
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across all lines of business with the Workplace Experience organization.
  • Manage all aspects of Design and Construction process including internal/external communication, coordination and collaboration with architectural firms, general contractors, furniture vendors and internal clients to produce space plan and build out space to solve overall scope of work of master plan including individual departmental requirements
  • Implement Value Engineering standards cost savings of capital funding per project
  • High level of customer service including interaction and communication with senior level business unit management
  • Establish, assess, and strengthen relationships with new and existing suppliers to develop a resilient and dependable network of specialized vendors.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience in programming, development of workplace design standards, construction and FF&E bid process
  • Process oriented to drive efficiency in project delivery at scale
  • Proven track record of delivery variety of size and complexity of projects including cleanroom, labs, and office spaces.
  • Strong technical knowledge, required to facilitate the design and construction process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to present with internal, external stakeholders, and business leaders in the company
  • Ability to manage Capital Expense budgets and interact with Finance Department for actuals vs budgets
  • Experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts
  • Ability to work well in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to sustain a large workload and manage multiple but simultaneous projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects where necessary without direction
  • Experience in construction/architectural background, vendor management, overseeing budget, and International Health and Safety Standards
  • Track record managing the delivery of large scale projects while balancing the delegation of tasks to the project team with diving deep into necessary details and tasks.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors or equivalent professional qualification
  • 10+ years of construction/architectural experience including project management experience or in a related field
  • Project management, construction and/or Architectural/ engineering experience with a proven track record of managing both new builds and the enhancement of existing workplaces

Preferred qualifications:

  • Degree in construction or project management or related degree
  • History of managing technical construction projects in cleanroom / lab facilities
  • Passion for innovating the built environment
