This is a varied and rewarding role supporting Theo after school and at weekends, helping him transition from school to home, enjoy his activities, stay safe and feel regulated with clear, calm and consistent routines. The successful candidate will be supporting daily after-school routines, meal times, toileting and personal care, and helping Theo enjoy his favourite activities, both indoors and outdoors, depending on his mood and the weather.

Close supervision is essential, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms and when out and about, as Theo can become unsettled quickly if he is uncomfortable, unwell or overwhelmed. Weekend hours are flexible and may be spread across one or two weekends each month, with the possibility of occasional overnight stays as the role develops. Theo sleeps through the night so the SEN Nanny / Manny is unlikely to be disturbed once he is asleep.

The family has created a warm, spacious and well-equipped home, with dedicated indoor and outdoor spaces designed around Theo's needs. There is plenty of room for him to play, stay calm and enjoy his favourite activities. The home environment has been adapted to support his safety and comfort. This is a chance to join a family who value kindness, warmth and teamwork. If you enjoy making a meaningful difference to a child's life while working in a supportive setting, this role offers real purpose as well as flexibility and variety.

Essential: At least two years experience supporting non-verbal autistic children with learning disabilities; confident with de-escalation strategies and supporting care needs such as toileting and washing. Needs to be energetic, physically confident, strong, patient and safety-conscious. Willingness to complete Autism Awareness training and Safeguarding Children Level 1.

Desirable: Previous training and/or qualifications in Autism Awareness and Safeguarding Children. Experience taking children swimming.

This role would suit someone with proven experience supporting non-verbal autistic children, for at least two years, who is calm under pressure and confident with de-escalation. Someone who is energetic and strong enough to support a child safely when needed, and enthusiastic about getting involved in active play and sensory activities. A driver with their own car is essential due to the rural location and limited public transport.

Driving Requirements: Yes. An electric family car may be available for use while on duty; however, candidates will also need access to their own vehicle due to the family's rural location and for occasions when the family car is unavailable. Mileage will be reimbursed, and a car seat will be provided.

Start Date: ASAP.

Days & Hours: 18 hours per week; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 2:45 pm - 7:45 pm (5 hours per day), Friday: 2:45 pm - 5:45 pm (3 hours). In addition, a minimum of 16 additional hours per month is guaranteed to be worked across one or two weekends, depending on the family's requirements. Both parents are doctors and are regularly on-call at the hospital. An overnight stay may occasionally be required. During school holidays, the exact days and times of the 18 weekday hours per week may vary to term-time but will be discussed and agreed in advance.
