Harry also enjoys long walks where he can listen to the birds and all the sounds of nature. Harry has significant complex care and medical needs; he is totally reliant on others to meet all his needs and is supported by a dedicated care team providing 1:1 / 2:1 24/7. Harry has cerebral palsy, dysphagia, epilepsy which results in regular seizures, a PEG for all nutrition, fluids, and medication, and requires suctioning. He has a visual and hearing impairment and is a wheelchair user. He is also susceptible to chest infections, and chest physio is implemented daily. Harry uses Eye Gaze to communicate. Harry is at the heart of a loving and supportive family, who recognise that his team of carers are instrumental in his overall development, and they ensure their home is a pleasant and professional working environment.

Overview of Role: Harry requires an experienced waking night carer to join his team to assist with his bedtime routine and tend to all his needs throughout the night. There will occasionally be a sleeping night carer on shift too, and they can be woken throughout the night if Harry requires additional support. This is an active night as you will be in Harry’s bedroom keeping a close eye on him, following protocols if he has a seizure, supporting him with repositioning, personal care, monitoring for any signs of distress, and in the mornings administering his PEG feed and fluids. You will help soothe Harry, making sure he is comfortable, and he can get as much rest before a busy day at school. All activity throughout the night is to be accurately documented. Additional shifts available to cover leave etc.

Who this job would suit: A happy, positive, and calm Waking Night Carer with excellent hands-on complex care experience and highly desirable to have paediatric/childcare experience. You will be dedicated and committed. Non-smoker only.
