About this client/child: Freya is a bright, energetic 4-year-old with a love for the outdoors, especially exploring nature, trees, and animals. She’s confident on playground equipment and enjoys her weekly children’s gym sessions. Indoors, she loves reading, creative activities, and imaginative play. She’s also a big fan of Pokémon and dinosaurs—much to her dad’s delight! Her 1-year-old brother, Luca, is full of personality and becoming more mobile by the day. Diagnosed with ASC and PDA last year, Freya is highly sensory-seeking and can struggle with emotional regulation, particularly when routines shift. Transitions, such as moving from the house to the car, can be challenging. The family recently relocated from the South Coast to be closer to relatives, which has been beneficial but also a significant adjustment for the children. Freya is set to start school in September, though her education may involve a mix of homeschooling and mainstream schooling.
Overview of role: We are looking for a warm, nurturing SEN Nanny to support both Freya and Luca, working closely with the family to create a positive and structured environment. The role includes assisting with the morning routine, working alongside mum to manage drop-off; while one of you takes Freya for an adventure, the other will drop Luca at nursery (he attends Monday and Tuesday mornings). Freya thrives with plenty of outdoor time, so a morning trip to the park is often the best way to set her up for a good day. At home, you’ll engage her in creative activities while supporting her social and emotional development. She is set to begin Occupational Therapy (OT) in April and will soon start sessions with a child psychologist. The SEN Nanny will observe some of these sessions and have the opportunity to help implement key strategies into the daily routines. Freya can become frustrated by her younger brother as he frequently invades her space, so managing their interactions with patience and care will be essential.
