About this client/child: Andy, 38, is a bright, engaging, and charismatic man who lives independently in a beautiful home, supported around the clock by a dedicated team of Support Workers. He enjoys dining out at local restaurants, exploring National Trust sites, and is a passionate sports enthusiast. Andy holds memberships with Hampshire Cricket Club, regularly attends Crawley FC matches, and loves spending time at Kempton Park racecourse. Andy communicates verbally, though he may take time to respond to questions or express his thoughts. It’s important that others give him space to speak and avoid speaking over, or for him; he values being heard on his own terms. Andy has Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, which affects his mobility and speech, as well as a mild learning disability that can influence his behaviour. Andy is mobile at home using a rollator and uses a manual wheelchair when out in the community. He can weight-bear for transfers. He is largely independent when bathing and using the toilet, only requiring some support with these tasks. Andy needs assistance with dressing, hair washing, brushing his teeth, and shaving. At mealtimes, he uses a Neater Eater to eat hot food with minimal support and independence and is ‘finger fed’ items like sandwiches and sausage rolls.
Overview of role: Andy is looking for a kind, dedicated, and reliable full-time *female Support Worker to join his fantastic care team and help him make the most of each day. Day shifts begin at 7:30am, for a handover and cover before Andy wakes, which is usually around 10.30am. Once he’s bathed, dressed, and ready, he enjoys heading out for a variety of recreational activities. His weekly routine also includes hydrotherapy sessions with a physio and attending a local day centre, 1–2 times per week. Andy sleeps soundly through the night, so overnight support is calm and consistent. Responsibilities include supporting Andy with his daily routines and activities, planning and accompanying him on outings and appointments, and undertaking essential domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, and cooking. Building a positive, trusting, and friendly relationship with Andy is at the heart of this role. The role is 48 hours per week, working in 12-hour shifts on a rolling rota that includes weekdays, weekends, and overnights. Additional hours worked for example, if out and about and late home, paid as extra on the day rate. Flexibility to cover other team members\’ sickness and annual leave is important. We are also open to candidates who prefer working two consecutive 24-hour shifts (block shifts).
Who this job would suit: This role is ideal for a mature and experienced *female support worker who has previously worked in private home settings and is confident in supporting an adult to live independently in their own home.
What’s great about this job: Working with Andy will be a true pleasure; he’s supported by a wonderful team and a caring family. This role offers a meaningful, long-term opportunity in a beautiful and welcoming setting. If you\’re compassionate, dependable, and driven to make a real difference in someone’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
